The proceedings of both the divisions of the Supreme Court (Appellate and High Court) will continue virtually from tomorrow, Wednesday. Today, Tuesday (January 18) afternoon, the decision of Chief Justice Hasan Fayez Siddiqui was confirmed by the Registrar General of the Supreme Court Md. Ali Akbar. He said in a statement that the decision was taken in the context of the new outbreak of  coronavirus. Earlier, on May 11 last year, the first virtual court in the history of the country's judiciary began its activities. In order to reduce the spread of coronavirus infection, lower court proceedings were first introduced in some cases complying with the rules of hygiene. Judicial proceedings were later resumed in several benches of the High Court in physical presence. Besides, virtual courts were also in operation. However, the country's highest court, namely the Appellate Division and the Chamber Court, was operating virtually. After more than a year and a half of trial, the trial began in the Supreme Court on December 1 in a physical presence. In the face of new outbreak of Coronavirus infections, the Appellate Division Chamber Court decided to run virtually. Chamber Justice Obaidul Hasan will conduct the virtual trial four days a week (Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday). In such a context, the Chief Justice indicated to return to the virtual court on Monday.
